Research Interests

The laboratory was established in November, 2010. The main theme in our research is to understand how pathogens activate innate immunity and cause tissue damage and diseases. Currently, Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Influenza A Virus are two main pathogens used as our research model. We aim to study how RLR (RIG-I like receptor), TLR (Toll-like receptor) and NLR (Nod-like receptor) are involved in virus (and other pathogens)-dependent cytokine and chemokine production and pathogenesis. Type I Interferon and IL-6 are two important cytokines induced during virus infection, so we are currently trying to understand how these two cytokines are regulated and their role during virus infection in vivo. Moreover, HCV infection is linked to liver cancer formation in patients, so the role innate immunity and IL-6 signaling in HCV-associated liver cancer is another important research topic in our laboratory. Molecular techniques, recombinant viruses, cell culture and genetically modified mice are the tools used in our research. Our group is open for your join and any potential collaboration.
